Calvert Grammar Skills Level 1 is an online skills workshop designed for middle school students. This four week course is designed to boost academic skills in Grammar and includes the guidance and support of a Calvert Advisory Teacher. Students view engaging pre-recorded video lessons that are reinforced with game-based learning activities, followed by auto-graded online assessments which provide immediate feedback and explanations for answers. The guided instruction and activities are coupled with short assignments that are personally evaluated by a Calvert instructor to ensure mastery of skills taught.
Grammar Skills Level 1 focuses on parts of speech and the structure of various types of sentences. Topics include complete and simple subjects and predicates, compound subjects and verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and direct and indirect objects, all taught through Calvert’s tradition of diagramming. The students also learn how to diagram interrogative and imperative sentences.
